This is a guide to make and use the Improvised fishing rod

Step 1: Looting

all of these items you can find in residential housing, sheds, food stores, industrial buildings

The items you will need to gather to craft the fishing rod are

1.Rope

2.Fishing hook

3.Axe (Splitting or Fire axe both work)

4.Shovel (Farming hoe will work too)

5.(optional)Boonie hat. can be used to store one Fishing hook

Step 2: Ashwood

After you find all of these items you will need to cut down a Ashwood tree

Once you cut down the tree you will find one Ashwood stick

Here is a example of what they look like

Step 3:Bait

Put you Shovel or Farming hoe into your hands and look at a patch of dirt or grass

the option to “Dig up worms” should appear

if you cant see it simply scroll on your mouse wheel wile looking at the grass until it appears

you may have to try a few times until you see the text “I dig up a bunch of worms”

Step 4: Crafting

combine the fishing hook with a worm to make Fishing bait

combine the Ashwood stick and the rope to make a Improvised fishing rod

Note that the fishing rod can be placed on your back as your equipped melee weapon

Step 5: Fishing

Put the fishing rod with bait attached into your hands and approach the edge of a lake or river

you should be able to “Start Fishing”

once you are fishing you will need to continuously check the bait

over time you should see text come up when you check the bait

keep checking until it comes up in red “Something just bit the bait”

quickly pull the bait out

CONGRATS! you have caught your first fish. prepare it with a knife and cook it on a fire to eat it or share it with your buddies

if you don’t catch a fish simply attach another worm to your hook and put it back on your fishing rod and try again
